Switzerland 2022 - Day 8: Return to Zurich, Exploring Old Town

The demons in our antique closets delivered us the full horror experience with a hectic night of howling winds and banging windows. Thankfully the combination of Mother Mary and the 佛牌 in my wallet conjured a protection spell to ensure we were unharmed. Nice one 谢韶光.

2 survivors from the haunting of St. Moritz Bad, circa 2022.

The long awaited St. Mortiz house tour. I will miss that ding ding bell, the unusually green bathroom and the creepy mirror facing my chained bed frame. Glad to be checking out, but this place has grown on me with its constant little surprises.

Like being surprised with having no oil or butter to cook with. Hen shag the cheese omelette keep sticking to the pan like how Jl’s crush keep sticking to her.

With this final oil-less breakfast, we say goodbye to Mother Mary and all the other spirits staying in the apartment.

Grabbing some snacks for the train journey back to Zurich when we saw a giant traffic cone.

Since it’s Switzerland, 99% of the options are ham, cheese and bread. Oh, and their chocolates are great too.

And as our train heads north towards the city..

We leave behind the snowy alps of the Engadin valley.

Hen chio 我要回去.

Back in Zurich and the first order of business after checking in is to get our noses poked.

A negative ART test within 48 hours of our flight back to SG was the requirement back then but these temporary covid testing tents all around the city made it very convenient for us.

Jh’s nose wasn’t just poked, it was raped by the testing lady. After receiving our positive negative results, we went to get the first of our 2 part dinner after not having any proper meals the entire day.

ZFC is more than just a cheap knockoff of KFC, it’s the most popular fried chicken chain in Zurich.

And they tasted amazing after having mostly pork for the past 7 days. Actually resembles KFC’s original recipe chicken.

For part 2, we went to Ikoo, a highly rated ramen place to get our long awaited asian food fix.

You know a ramen is sus when they have pickled ginger and wakame as toppings. Most of our table ordered their tonkotsu ramen which was bland and lacking in richness, probably toned down to cater to westerners.

Luckily i took a risk and ordered the dan dan noodle instead which was decent apart from the same pickled ginger and wakame.

"The ramen nice" - Sufian and his halal taste buds.

To digest all that food, we took a short hike up the Lindenhof hill to admire the Limmat river and its surroundings.

Afterwards, we wandered around Zurich’s old town district exploring sights, sounds and supermarkets.

A look into a Swiss konbini, a far cry from Japan's Family Mart or Lawson.

What they do have is ice cream that we've never seen before.

Jl being absolutely astounded that none of them have heard of Mövenpick ice cream.

Not satisfied with shitty ramen for dinner, we got kebabs and fries for supper at Geylang central while Jl demonstrated her inability to keep her eyes open on 3.

In back to back photos??? Reagan 你看你老婆.

We spent the rest of the night admiring Reagan’s asscrack back at home.

Had a fat burrito and a refreshing lemonade beer for supper.

We watched Harry Potter on netflix until we were exhausted but still refused to go to bed as we were approaching the end of our trip. Just 2 more Swiss posts and we are finally done. 感动流泪.
