Switzerland 2022 - Day 9: Lucerne, Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument

Apologies to all my dear readers for the delay as this post was constantly hampered by a certain Taiwanese following me everywhere i go. We will be spending our last full day on a day trip to the beautiful city of Lucerne. But first, a peek into our living situation in Zurich.

Don’t see outside no up hor, siao siao guess who is staying in a penthouse in Switzerland?

Kempinski St. Moritz got automatic opening windows? I wouldn’t know because i was stuck in the haunted house across the road.

First, breakfast at Babu’s with Jl who continued having trouble keeping her eyes open.

People often ask me how i remember the tiny details like how each meal tasted after such a long time. The secret is i don’t and just make shit up as i go along.

This coffee was good (?).

This eggs benedict was decent (?).

Nothing sadder than the sight of an overcooked benedict. You murdered a chick for this??

Jh (?) probably ate this bacon scrambled egg rosti and it probably tasted pretty good (?)

After a decent (?) meal, we got on our FIRST CLASS train cabin towards Lucerne.

If i knew the public toilets cost SGD $3 to use, i would have worn adult diapers throughout the trip.

Blessed with consistent bright, blue skies throughout our trip, the weather gods must be rewarding us for having the balls to travel during covid.

The first stop on our Lucerne tour is the iconic Chapel Bridge.

The original wooden bridge was constructed in 1360 and rebuilt in 1994 after a fire burned it down, so technically it is younger than some of us and has to call us oppa/noona.

A touching moment as Reagan brought his blind wife here and described the beautiful bridge to her in detail.

Of course, we took turns taking care of our handicapped friend. Here’s a UOB employee demonstrating their charity contributions towards the visually impaired.

Still not as close together as when Th leaned in towards Jh in a group photo when they were just colleagues.

Old bridge 打卡. Next up are the storied streets of Lucerne, told through a series of pictures and poses.

Obiang old people pose.

Pre-wedding photo shoot pose.

Walk halfway suddenly turn around take photo awkward smile pose.

偷看楼上 auntie undress pose.

Paris fashion model pose.

No money to launder in Swiss bank pose.

Switzerland is well known for their chocolates so what better souvenir to buy for friends and family back home.

Max Chocolatier is as atas as it gets. I got a ferrero rocher sized praline sampler and it fucking cost SGD $70…

Trying to look composed while checking out the prices but in my head i was unleashing expletives in every language.

The chapel evacuated pretty quickly after Suf went to admire it hmm i wonder why.

Next stop is the Lion Monument, a tribute to Swiss soldiers who died during the French Revolution.

Carved into sandstone, the portrayal of a dying lion defending the coat of arms of Switzerland and France evokes such tear-jerking emotions.

This moving sight is ruined by a handful of loud asian tourists and their chio bu poses.

We ascended uphill to the Museggmauer, the iconic city walls of Lucerne boasting 9 watchtowers.

The view from the hill was average as best.

Pretty sure that’s why they brought some random alpacas and let them roam around.

Back at the old town of Lucerne to spend what was left of our remaining Swiss Francs.

Just one day before returning home but we could not tahan another meal of potatoes and sausages so here we are at a Thai restaurant.

This green curry in SG is a 4/10 but in CH is a 7/10. The highlight was a roast duck we enjoyed so much that we had to dabao home.

Something about Europe and their lit up old towns that make my asshole warm and fuzzy.

Funky looking little fountain in the middle of town.

Did a little digging and what looks like Disneyland is actually the Chateau Gutsch hotel which costs an affordable $1.2k per night.

One last breathtaking view of Lucerne before we return to Zurich.

But not before spending another $100 or so on more chocolates.

And a final Coop run to satisfy Jh’s supermarket urges where we found the best purchase of the trip: a tin of Cailler hot chocolate powder.

We also came across these cute, colourful dyed eggs.

Had the train cabin all to ourselves for the trip home so we could enjoy some peace and quiet without others disturbing us.

But little did we know that we were the nuisance all along..

Transferred to a city tram because 15,000 steps for the day is way too many.

Ended the day off with a feast for supper, a medley of leftovers from dinner and rations we brought from SG. The pad thai like eat 3 days also cannot finish.

Refusing to sleep as it would end our final night and the Switzerland trip. But on the bright side, there's only 1 fucking day left to blog and we can finally move on with our lives.
I can't wait.

- End of Day 9 -
