Taiwan 2014 Day 3 - Doing Nothing, Raohe Night Market

Sunday, 4th May

We were supposed to wake up earlier for our trip to Jiufen but everyone was really tired so we decided to swap the schedule with Thursday's, which pretty much screwed up our plans for the afternoon. Went down at around noon for our breakfast and found this nice dumpling place near our hotel.

Dumpling skin as smooth as Yc

Spicy sour soup

Some fat pigeon

We had no idea what to do so we wandered around into some marketplace area

Also found their equivalent of Lucky Plaza, suddenly so many pinoys i thought we flew to the wrong country

Ended up at some shopping mall after a short trip to Chia Te, which we decided to return to at a later date.

Decided to eat teppanyaki when Ponderosa was closed. Nice choice lah.

ew

Should have ordered that chicken thing. I never thought a steak could get raped so badly before that it tastes like shit.

Couldn't find much to do so we ended up playing old school arcade games

Yea 我是superman, 你是loser

Jh showing us why he didn't continue pursuing his motorbike license

pew pew pew

loser pia 奶奶

Sj stronk. We spent quite a long time playing Time crisis and Reagan playing Daytona till his feet hurt. Went back to watch some channel 99 before setting out for the night.

Had some really good egg tarts from Chia Te Bakery. Sibei gao filling with aromatic biscuit

Adding on extra baggage for the return flight.

At this point we were lazy and just cabbed everywhere instead of taking the mrt. Headed to yet another night market at Raohe Street even though Tim was getting pretty sick of them.

Time to grind grind again

Tim with his favourite 香肠

Taiwan's mushrooms are sooo good yet cheap

Not bad but why must put the ice cream toppings??

Found our favourite kiap kiap machines. As usual we got tricked into spending lots of money on them. The shop assistant keep place on the edge make us gian

Tim with his prize

Roast pork for a reasonable price

Chee cheong fan hk style

Lots of mini games our pasar malam used to have

Raohe's famous 胡椒饼 (meat pepper buns) Not really that amazing, but decent

The opposite entrance

Is this even a snipe? I don't remember

Some temple. Walked finish 1 side, time to do a u-turn

Above average chicken thigh

This looked awesome but we waited for it to cool before eating it and the yolk overcooked. I guess you're supposed to eat it straightaway for the yolk to explode out. Still it tasted pretty good.

Nice 1 lah take picture of box nvr take meat.

After eating all that shit we were starting to get full (finally), so we settled down for dessert at some shaved ice shop

The bodyless remnants of Tim's prize after giving it to Ck for safekeeping

Pretty nice mangoes with the pudding on top

I liked this peanut with cum shaved ice

不错哦

They also sold 鲁肉冰 which was jelly shaped like a slab of pork meat on top of shaved ice which we didn't try. Maybe next time. Tim kept taking sneak shots of the waitress working there like some stalker, although i must admit she had a good body.

But the face..

We forgot that this oyster mee sua was the watery version.

We wanted to grab a drink from a really pretty girl that was working here earlier but seems like she knocked off, so this one will have to do

1 last street food before we go

Some grilled chicken thigh skewers, not bad

nomnomnom ate so much different shit, special shoutout to the 花枝 that tasted like fishcake. I still don't understand why Reagan continued eating it when i suggested him to throw it away. That night we just slacked and watched 康熙来了and 综艺大热门 and Channel 99 at our hotel as we had to check out the next day. Later me and Ck went down to buy some stuff for supper. In Taiwan convenience stores are literally everywhere, with 7 Eleven and Family Mart within 50 metres of each other and they sell fking awesome stuff

Ck's favorite chawanmushi, rice burger, 凉面 and dumplings, all from the convenience stores.

awesomezxc

The meat was actually pretty small despite the thickness

This is the gem of the whole 7 Eleven. They should import this shit to Singapore. Awesome eggs with slightly runny center. We had so many of this while we were there.

To prevent nose bleeds, sore throats and ulcers from the heaty stuff we ate, this is the amount of plain water we drank daily. Although it didn't prevent the puazui Jh and i had, it was pretty effective. Bonus points to Via Hotel Loft for the plain water being free from the pantry.

End of a pretty boring Day 3
