Taiwan 2014 Day 7 - Jiufen, Keelung Miaokou Night Market

Thursday, 8th May

Went down for breakfast at JSP, a pretty popular little shop selling breakkie around Xmd. Wanted to try it during the previous trip but it was closed.

Awesome beef burger with egg and cheese

Someone's bbq shit sandwich

Ck enjoying breakfast with his girlfriend

Returned to the lor ba shop to buy the meat for later consumption

Female circular shoe shot while waiting. Were supposed to take a public bus as per the itinerary to Jiufen but we just missed it when we reached so we took a private van for about 1000NTD for all of us. Unfortunately the guy overbooked the van and the 2 skinniest, Ck and Reagan had to squeeze into a seat for the 45mins ride.

Lots of scenery pictures with nothing nice to caption ahead

Nice mountain

Nice highway

Nice road

Nice mountainside town

Nice sea

Nice scooter

Nice buildings

aaaand finally we reached Jiufen

The van dropped us off here and we had to walk a short distance up into Jiufen Old Street

This place looks really similar to Japan

Sj with his newly purchased cap from Xmd

Photobombed by Prince Tim

More facebook profile pictures

Ck looking a little tired after running up the mountain by himself

Mse support combo of sand king and rubick. Cb zai nans

Fucking oily and salty lor ba and egg without rice. Immediately regret our decision

We also had to go to a 7-11 to get the bowl as they sold it to us in a plastic bag

More fb pics while we eat

Nice stain on timberland

Checking out the mountain view

Jin pretty

Acting cool for fb profile pic

Wear this side is Yong Ming

Flip this side is Yong Liang

Headed into the old street which housed many highly recommended foods

The streets were narrow but thankfully wasn't very crowded when we went, souvenirs were aplenty. Mostly food related like almond powder.

Famous ice cream peanut popiah. Disappointed there wasn't a cleavage baring 辣妹 shaving the peanut

10/10 Tourist photo

Ownself pay ownself take change. Sadly, a concept that wouldn't work well in Singapore.

Cold sweet ice cream with thin rice flour skin. Not really that spectacular for us.

Reagan with his laosai bin

How could we pass by this without buying?

Bbq mushrooms of all shapes and sizes

Juicy and fragrant. Nice la

Wild grape juice which we took free samples from, but didn't buy. Xiao gous

Another really famous stall full of celebrity photos selling teochew fishballs

Sadly fishballs aren't that unique in Singapore and none of them tasted special or extremely delicious

More "meatballs" but this time with a special pink char siew sauce

Nice q skin

This is a listed must try when you visit Jiufen. Ah Po's taro balls

I'm guessing it would be shiok to have a warm bowl during winter, but the ice cold version was superb as well for the warm weather when we went.

Quaint little stoney dining area

Spotted the kiap kiap machines when we went to the toilet

Once you see the machine, don't win cannot go home. Ck with his loot

Stunning view of the mountainsides

Facebook profile picture moment, with Tim's nose photobombing

Team cb zai nans

Step one artistic shot

Scouring the streets for Jh's lavender pillow

Stumbled into a souvenir shop selling wu eh bo eh stuff

Ck ji cute yi xia?  but still no gf

More of the same scenery

??? Why suddenly Jh take picture with Yongliang??

That was the end of Jiufen Old Street, and so began the taking of photos with every single random thing

Abandoned building

Sleeping stray dog

Took a photo with a chiobu

Discussing which way to head

Pretty place to stay for a night

Sudd ask Sj climb up take photo

Went to a cafe to enjoy the scenery with a cup of tea like atas ppl. Seats outside were occupied but we enjoyed the air conditioning

Newest fashion coming autumn 2014

Sj giving his impression of Takuya san

Nice stone crack. This picture jitao no point

Yc and Sj romantic date. Like taiwanese drama. The drinks were left behind from a previous couple. They just sat down and used their leftovers as props

The sexual tension hen high

Display pic worthy

Chio bodoh

Perverse Wong at one with nature

Ck purposely showing off them biceps

Very beautiful place. Should have came later so we could see the night view with the lights

Outside view from the cafe. After a long wait and lots of jiaowei the drinks finally came...

Most average green tea latte of my life

Nevertheless, 干杯! Shoutout to the bowl of nuts that we kept fighting over

Sneaky Tim trying to snipe girls from above

Took a different route back to the bus stop so we wouldn't have to see the same things

Fking asian twists. Sj pose hen original

Our 2 fitzais. Too much muscle in 1 pic

The closest we will ever get to seeing Kat nude

The leap resembles how she leapt away from Reagan after o lvls had ended

Satki other ppl pose with porsche we pose with lorry

Twist here, twist there, Tim hiding his hair

Handsome gentleman Yc

Jh with his dream car

Cute cat

毛毛虫

Help other ppl take but ownself nvr take with the famous sign

Checking out some pastry shop before heading to the bus stop towards Kee Lung

Sj thinking about Qh?

There were 30+ stops listed to get to kee Lung, quite funny. Luckily most stops are at ulu places on the mountain so there were skipped pass. Also, stopped by lots of schools so there were plenty of schoolgirls aboard. Reagan steam. The whole trip was around an hour and a half.

A half fuck sunset while waiting for the bus

Arrived totally disorientated, but we just walked with the crowd and sure enough, we got to Miaokou/Keelung Night Market. Keelung is a harbour famous for their seafood but unfortunately we not 内行 enough to know where the good eateries are.

Our 5th night market in 7 days. Finding a toilet is pretty difficult here

Sj's wonderful discovery: Spring onion mountain pork

nomnomnom

"frog eggs" drink

Does this place look familiar? One of the reasons we came here was because Jay Chou's music video "退后" was filmed here.

Unfortunately the same stall selling fruit juices was no more so we couldn't reenact 因为你今天打架不乖啊

Peanut infused shaved ice

Perverse Wong with his pedo smirk

A snipe of Ck with the girl he thought he knew

A supposed must eat here called  营养三明治. The sandwich is deep fried and splashed with mayonaise. The irony.

Tastes like thai fish cakes. Pretty good

Tried this little stall with only a few seats but constantly full of people

This lu rou fan not simple. Very different style from Formosa's but it's very fragrant and robust in flavor.  Good shit

And we got tricked into ordering frozen chicken again... I get that people like to eat chilled chicken with the gelatine but why on earth are there pieces of ice with it?

The temple that gives Miaokou Night Market its name

It's a relatively small night market and we finished it within an hour

Looking to do some shopping. We were starting to get bored when we saw our saving grace.

Kiap kiap machine heaven

With a pretty cute twmm tending it

As usual our no win no go home rule applies

Fucking ducks

and we went for bigger

and even bigger. 越玩越大

We had more ducks than we knew what to do with them, so Jh chose a delighted xmm to give it to.

Bought some 水煎包 to snack on

Weird that the lighting of this picture is so different from the previous one that we took just seconds apart

Trying to take a picture of the street when this guy looked straight into the camera and made things awkward for both of us...

Chio night view of Keelung harbour

Heading to take a bus back to Taipei

So many blur pictures here

Bus fare was around $2 sgd and the duration around an hour. Probably would have been shorter if not for the traffic jam. A shame we didn't have more time to explore around Keelung and jiak some seafood. So ends the last night of our trip. What a long ass post. Final day coming up.

End of an adventurous Day 7
