Japan 2018 - Day 9: Stuck in Hakodate Airport, Flight to Tokyo

Some things never change. My pubic hair keeps growing out. We're still losing dota. I'm still single. And worst of them all, i'm struggling to finish blogging our Japan trip before the next big one. But i know i have to keep going. My readers depend on me, all 8 of them.

We begin with Reagan's intimidating dorayaki that's 10 percent bun and 90 percent red bean. He must have needed to replenish his energy after an exhausting night..

After 8 days of barely holding together, Yc's boots were on the verge of collapse, like me after 6 years left.

But his boots had to endure another challenge. The snowstorm was well and truly underway as we faced our first obstacle of the day: finding breakfast in this god forsaken town. The owners' suggestion was pretty much "glhf" when we asked about any places open for business. We were on our own.

It seemed as if the wind blew us to Alaska overnight. Hakodate give us 白白 to say byebye HAHAHA GET IT? No? Cheebye...

Ok no joke the wind really big until my hello kitty panties gonna zao geng

The lupsup bird shit snow was coated over by the freshly fallen powder, and snowball fights were once again given the green light. Well technically the bird poop is just a few cm under the new snow but shhhhh Reagan doesn't know that.

Imagine the residents wondering what these 3 retards are doing spinning around in the snow

We ducked into a little cafe that was the only shop in the block open at this hour for some respite.

As expected, absolutely no customers as nobody in their right mind would head out in this blizzard.

Newly attached vs 老夫老妻 v2.0

Is it make money from cold tourists until can use Givenchy cup?

Disappointingly, the friendly owner did not serve breakfast, but she did provide us with a warm cup of tea, some much needed shelter and comfort women.

All thawed out, we ventured further in search of a proper meal and found a curry restaurant that barely just opened up for the day.

感动流泪 as we crawled through the front door. THANKS FOR SAVING OUR LIVES

The number of options to go with our curry almost made us miss our flight.

Curry was not the most appealing as it resembled the results inside a toilet bowl after having double mcspicy, but check this out..

Oof... Someone should make an ASMR video out of exploding egg yolks.

Not a fan of jap curry but this was good. Spicy and flavourful instead of that sweet bullshit. The melted cheese and egg made the curry thicker and creamier as well. Plus, the spices made us sweat gao gao but we just had to walk outside to cool ourselves down. Nature's air conditioning is awesome.

Returned to our apartment to lug our luggage towards the bus stop. Many thanks to the owners at Condominium Panoramique Motomachi for a lovely stay!

We spent the next few hours digging out Jh, Jl and Reagan.

Our bus stop wasn't much of a bus stop. It was a random signboard in front of a hotel.

With time to spare, we had the choice of entering the hotel to warm ourselves up..

Or you know, do the complete opposite and turn into a human ice kacang.

You're more addictive than all these 白粉 surrounding you ❤

One look you know is some noob Singaporean who has never made snow angels before.

Moody bus ride to the airport because who knows when we will get to see snow again (hint: it's February 2019 hehe)

Taking in our final breathtaking views of Hokkaido. Thanks for blessing us with lots of powder snowfall!

4th airport of this trip and it's pretty much an abandoned one. Even the crows are contributing to the secluded ambience.

Nice effort by Hakodate airport to please their 10 daily commuters. *clap clap*

The snowstorm was getting heavier and most of the flights were getting cancelled with every minute. Our hearts sank whenever the board starting updating.

We heaved a huge sigh of relief as our domestic flight to Tokyo was delayed, but by some miracle it was the only flight still given the green light.

No point worrying about flying on a plane through the blizzard, we planned to make the most out of the last moments of our lives. If we are going to die, we may as well find out WHO WILL BE THE 2018 HAKODATE AIRPORT AIR HOCKEY CHAMPIONS!!!

After some intense competition, a late lunch at the airport restaurant followed. Chic looking tigernu waterproof bag btw.

Fried rice wrapped in gentle scrambly eggs. What's not to love about omurice?

I just love ordering oyako don aka 親子丼 because it's heartwarming that the chicken and its child can be cooked and served together in the same bowl one last time :)

白色恋人 ice cream is sugoi neh! Hokkaido milk soft serve is literally as good as sucking straight from a cow's udders. So fragrant and milky!

WE FUCKING MADE IT TO TOKYO. Wasn't the most stable takeoff but what matters is that we are alive and not somewhere deep down in the Sea of Japan.

Taking the dildo looking skyliner from Narita to our airbnb. Expensive but worth it to save some time as our remaining day in Tokyo was already cut short by the flight delay.

Otsuka is the home base for this Tokyo leg of our journey. It's a 15 mins uphill walk from the station to the apartment but the surrounding school and residential area make it a decent stroll.

We didn't have time to visit Ikebukuro tonight, so a slight tweak of plans to explore around the neighbourhood + get some dinner.

Our previous ramen was way back at the potato foam ramen in Niseko, so it was a no brainer when we saw this cosy little ramen place.

DIDN'T REALISED I ORDERED SPRING ONION SOUP WHERE THE FUCK ARE MY NOODLES?

But underneath all that grass is melt in your mouth meat, lovely Hakata style noodles and a strong porky broth that screams "HARAM". Not suitable for everyone's tastebuds but it was alright for me.

Their gyozas were the hidden gems, crispy and generous on the fillings. Or maybe it was just a welcome break from the rich soup.

Apparently sitting around doing nothing while waiting for our flight was so exhausting that we decided to call it a day then and there. But there were no shortages of convenience stores around the area so supper was easily procured, while exploring our massive apartment was an adventure in itself. More Tokyo escapades in the next post, and maybe a house tour if Jh ever digs out the video he took.
