Taiwan 2014 Day 4 - High Speed Rail to Taichung, Fengjia Night Market

Monday, 5th May

Checked out of our first hotel in Taipei and headed to Taipei Train Station to take the high speed rail to Taichung. I'll miss the jap tourists in the pantry...

We didn't have much time to have our lunch, so we just had lunch at some food court with all stalls selling japanese curry. It was average but i hoped there would be bentos aka 铁路便当 sold as they were pretty hyped

what's behind the door?

Ans: a blur 台贡!

Dat ass

The seats were very spacious although the luggage rack provided in the front was abit too small to put more than 4 of them.

Jh with his bacon bread

Yc posing with a vending machine

A shot of the toilet. The trip took only 1 hour compared to a 3 hours trip if we were to take a bus.

random

shots

of scenery

Had to wait for the train to depart to take this shot

Taichung was much windier and colder than Taipei. Shiok weather

Tim lost his ticket (which was later found in his bag) and he couldn't get out the gantry, but the ticket attendants recognized him as 新加坡王子 and let him through without question

Finally found the bento shop. Got 2 of them to try at the hotel

Some cardboard exhibition

All aboard the Ck train

That is an ugly looking bee

Robot made out of ticket stubs

Walking over to take the railway to Taichung train station. There's no mrt in Taichung so the 火车 and buses are the primary ways of transportation

Perverse Wong strikes again.... 喝好水, 喝Reagan 的水

The trains have priority seats for females

Reach our stop suddenly sit down, dunno why

Then Jh must lick Sj ear

Sj with his vivian sized luggage

Checked into 53 Hotel which was within walking distance from the train station

Very spacious for a 2 man room. Unfortunately there was no channel 99

My ass for ratio comparison

Toilet was spacious too, even had a bathtub for kinky stuff. Finally a proper toilet door with a fucking lock. 加分!

Our 铁路便当. Tasted pretty meh

After settling down we had a few hours before the night markets open so we went to some shopping center to check out the exciting supermarket. The number of schoolgirls in the area were too damn high

Jh cannot hide his delight at the sight of their Carrefour. We saw Qh there but couldn't get a picture. Nothing much to walk so we cabbed over to Fengjia Night Market, the biggest night market in Taiwan. We took taxis everywhere we went during our stint in Taichung.

We were confused where the night market was as it was spread over a few streets and we didn't know where to begin, so we just picked one and went with it

As it was a Monday, there were no big crowds so we didn't know which stalls were famous. Luckily we had the famous stall names printed out on our itinerary

Prawn crackers were quite good

Nice pork cutlet in cheese sauce that we never went back for

Waiting on the shilin scallops, i lost count of how many times we ate that

Not bad, so many chickens were eaten there i forgot which one this was

Fucking awesome german pork knuckle. Tastes as good as losing your virginity

Lemon chicken, normal

Potato + mamee + cheese = burden potato. Melted cheese can't save everything

I only had the flour part of this so i can't really comment

Meh

lol didn't try

Love that we didn't have to queue up long for the food or squeeze with people

Fengjia University right beside means lots of pretty uni girls =D

Famous corn that sticks to your teeth. lol no crowd

Decent but i don't like corn

Jh fangirl wedding photo with 萧敬腾

Shop famous for their 古早味 (body odour) onion pancakes

It is literally prata, egg, onion

Finally we had good takoyaki with wasabi sauce. Thanks for overwriting the crappy memory of pasar malam takoyaki made by giao tors

Whole place is so big it's hard to navigate. I'm not even sure we covered all the places of interest

Trying some ducks' blood which we don't have back here. They taste a lot like toufu, no funky smells at all. Passed by this place that had a 天狗 and thought it was the famous steak place with the statue. Turned out we went to the wrong one but the food was still pretty good.

Awesome soft boiled egg. 1 mouth slurp it down song dahh

Then got so many pictures of the buns we didn't touch

Their beefy minestrone

The ribeye was good, nobody touched the pasta as we full as fuck

Jh's undercooked shit at the end. Food he orders just goes wrong one way or the other

Nice snipe of the pretty girl with white handbag, with her friend also looking directly at our camera. 10/10 snipe by Yc. There weren't any night clubs open on a Monday so we had no night activities. I think we went down for a midnight Mcdonald's but unfortunately the pork burger was taken off the menu. Decided to hit the sack early in preparation for a long day the next day.

End of a cold and windy Day 4
