Taiwan 2014 Day 1 - Check in, Dongmen

Friday, 2nd May

Hej, So our annual trip was Taiwan this year. We waited for the free return promo from Jetstar so the whole trip was pretty inexpensive, with flight and accommodation adding up to around $540 for an 8 days 7 nights trip. Our itinerary was pretty hectic as we wanted to start and end in Taipei, with a trip to Taichung sandwiched in between. Anyway for anyone interested in our superbly done itinerary, here's the link:

As usual, had a nourishing 1 hour sleep before meeting up with the rest at around 5am.

Took Guo Guang bus to Taipei Train Station to pre-order our bullet train (aka High Speed Rail) tickets to Taichung, bus tickets were around $6 i think. It came with fking noisy window hooks sliding around though.

Some hyperactive ugly butch student came up to us at the entrance and tried to sell us useless shit again. This time we didn't fall for it, although she did manage to make a deep impression on us.

High Speed Rail ticketing area, costs around $30 for a one way trip. Bought in advance in case it sold out

Took their mrt to Shuanglian, a short distance away from our first hotel, Via Hotel Loft. The hotel was dirt cheap and located on a pretty bustling street

We oh pay som-ed for the sleeping combos and to see who would get to have a 2 person bed to himself. The 2 man room was pretty small but the 3 man room was decent. Fking Reagan got to sleep on the solo bed, probably because he has a gf.

Here's where Via Hotel shines(besides channel 99), a fucking 24/7 free for all pantry

walao even got minute maid juice 你很过分 leh. We kept going down to get the free drinks every now and then, partly to mingle with japanese tourists. And by mingle i mean sit 1 corner and beo them haha losers

Because Tim confirmed his booking later he could only book hotel Yomi which was just next to ours. Bigger and better room though

Nice toilet window. Why would you even design this...? There's this fetish with glass doors and windows in Taiwan's bathrooms. It's fking hard to find a hotel with a toilet that's non see through and has a proper lock.

After settling down, we went to the original usuals at Dongmen, aka the first Din Tai Fung

Full of tourists but the waiting time was only around 15mins

Since we had 15mins, went to some Birkenstock store give auntie praise my chio turqoise nike shoes.

xiao long baozxc.. Food was decent, not any better than the branches here. Probably the service was slightly better.

Read that this beef noodle shop was very famous, left pretty disappointed by it.

The beefy smell was really strong, i guess it doesn't fit our tastebuds. Still prefer the peppery soup base instead. The meat was tender and delicious though.
