Day 3 gogogo! After 2 tiring days of waking up early we decided to sleep in a little bit. A few of us woke up at 9 am to hunt for breakfast around the neighbourhood before heading out later for more sightseeing.
Some proper pictures of our apartment from the outside
The owner also left us a bicycle if we wanted to use it.
Waiting for the rest to get ready. Slippers because i'm not a faggot
Modelling our airbnb apartment
Must step one look elsewhere
See this first thing in the morning make us forever alone guys du lan and gao wei
The breakfast team (short of Kl) and SJ who went to hunt his own breakfast which probably included some alcohol
Nice morning to take a stroll around this quaint area
Not many places to makan as Japanese tend to grab quick bites on their way to work instead of stopping at eateries
Pit stop at Lawson for some hot drinks and mandarin oranges
random gas station photo
even more awesome vending machines with hot drinks
Eventually, we decided to go to the area around the mrt which seemed to be more happening
They have these sheltered shopping alleys near the subway stations which is essentially their "central" area
向左走向右走
Use right hand to pcc so walk right side. Ez decision making
We settled for the 24 hour chain store selling beef or pork bowls
Got 2 local zeh zehs having breakfast
Some sat ki wooden plaque
Wefie with a random auntie behind waiting for her takeaway order
The standard pork bowl which comes with raw egg. Pretty average
Ck's noob curry rice
Kl ordered a pork rice bowl with some funky white.. stuff
Cold and tasteless, like ice. Think it's grated radish, or semen. Probably semen
Regretted not changing my raw egg to a half boiled egg like Reagan, but we will realise the correct way of eating beef/pork bowls later that day.
Dropping by Mister Donut to grab a light breakfast for the late sleepers
Their coffee smells really good too
Kl's favourite. Went back to the apartment after that and got ready to head out
Sneak peek of the chaotic life when we're under the same roof
Off to Asakusa to see the famous Sensoji temple
The decor start from inside the mrt station
See some lapsup lantern suddenly must take group pic
Perks of being tall, having sefie stick arms
Fwah see liao think of cai fan back home in SG
Map of attractions which we didn't need because we have an awesome itinerary pfft
Quite surprised that the street was pretty quiet since it's super near the temple
Kimono shops for tourists to cosplay. Almost gianed go in change but scared kenna beat up
Lots of carriages to travel in style
Very near to the famous Tokyo Skytree which we skipped because we felt it was another Taipei 101
Suddenly the happening part of town
gum pua alot people
The famous Thunder Gate, Kaminarimon
Another shot to show you how big it is. Almost as big as my lan pa
Lots of kimono girls as well, although most of them were foreigners
Hello from the other side
After the gate, we were greeted by this superb view. 2 lanes of shops leading up to the temple
Lots of street snacks and souvenirs sold around
Famous mochis that Ck forgot to buy
In between there are sheltered walkways full of shops so the whole area is pretty big
Bought some freshly bbq-ed senbeis. Got alot of different flavours
While we were shopping and buying horse oil..
Knn 2 si ginnas run away eat soba bo jio... Lai liao lor play sneak sneak. Looks super good somemore :(
Some baked apple dessert thingy after they met up with us and confessed their sins. Not bad .
This one tasted a little weird. Like some sweet potato eat liao mouth very dry. And near temple grounds it is considered rude to walk and eat, so must stand 1 side clear the food before continuing which takes abit getting used to.
After lots of chio bu ogling and street shopping we reached the main temple grounds
Sensoji temple
Some garden beside
It may be sunny but the air was cold cold and shiok shiok
[insert inappropriate cleavage joke]
They love their animal statues, first hachiko now pigeons
Random pagoda shot blocked by a tree
Finally entering the temple and i have to say, most temples are boring because you just go in and pray, but Japanese temples have lots of activities to do
The most exciting of them, fortune telling. Put in one hundred yen as a donation, which you can skip if you are a dog that has no 家教 but heng we have. Then shake the metal tin to get a wooden stick with a number. Open the cabinet that represents your number to retrieve a paper slip which will tell you your fortune. Luckily this being a touristy place, they have english translations on the other side of the paper. If you get a good fortune you can bring it home with you and keep it well. If it sucks and you are suay kia like Yc you have to tie it onto the poles beside and spin spin until your bad luck goes away.
As demo-ed by Kl
Ck checking if phyllis will return to his side
Que "小幸运" Best fortune but no gf hais
Also, we did the wash left hand wash right hand wash mouth ritual and it was FUCKING COLD. the burning of incense and throwing into the big pot was pretty fun too. 10/10 would play fortune telling again.
Jh and Yc still had not eaten a proper meal and it was late in the afternoon, so we went to look for lunch. Heard rumours that Yoshinoya in Japan was really good unlike the crap served in SG so we went to try and see for ourselves.
Nice little place with the waitress serving us hot piping food very quickly. Jap style fast food eat and zhao.
Holy shit what is this bowl with glistening pieces of meat? Is this really Yoshinoya?
Only slightly more than $5 :O
Where is the fucked up raw carrot and broccoli that SG never fails to have?
That egg is porn

And this is how you eat it, pour the soft boiled egg onto your beef bowl..
Then you poke your yolk and watch it replicate what's going on in your pants.
Done wiping off sexual juices from our bodies after that meal, we took the subway to Shinjuku for some shopping and prostitute ourselves at the red light district
Visited Mt. Chia on the way there
Getting on the train at 4.30 pm. Are you ready for a surprise?
Boom. This is the sky when we reached at 5 pm. Nice daytime.
Some building with funky architecture
Loud, bustling crowded streets. The amount of chio bus here is imba
The amount of shopping malls in Shinjuku is too damn high
See Gap got sale suddenly all tio black hole in
Exploring around the area while they shop
Automatically attracted by the kiap kiap machines
Got interactive robot outside which spoke to us in Chinese. Even robots think we ah tiong...
Nice place to throw money away
Gudetama!
The process of getting scammed. Anyway we got nothing and we moved on to Takashimaya to look for their porter bags
And the Taka is fucking huge. I repeat, fucking huge.
Housing the famous DIY store, Tokyu hands
Shinjuku is sort of the transport hub of Tokyo, hence the sugoi number of tracks
Nice bridge with chio view connecting Taka with the rest of the office buildings
Legs were killing us so in order not to look xia suay by sitting at the sidewalk we pretended to take photos
#YcCkmakinggirlswet
These cb zai nans can really shop.. bored die me and Kl
After the guys are done, time for the girl. Sniping around while Jl gets her cosmetic products
Finally it's dinner time!
Tripadvisor recommended Tsunahachi Tempura, which looked pretty good from the pictures.
Price is a little steep though. What surprised us was that the place was quite atas and you have to follow closely their instructions to eat the tempura properly or they will get super agitated.
And also pictures weren't allowed, so all we got from the place is this sneak shot of the fritters. The batter was crispy and light, especially the prawns which were super fresh. The many different condiments like sour plum powder and rock salt were interesting as well. Kl praised the white rice. Felt a bit out of place, but all in all a good meal after a long queue.
Big ass uniqlo which we managed to resist. Heng ah
A formal shirt shop that they wanted to check out. Luckily we just made it before they closed.
Face sibei kiam pa
The interesting thing about Shinjuku is that while it's a transport hub and major shopping area, it's also home to a super happening red light district called Kabukicho
Bars and neon lights everywhere
Also many suspicious looking men (especially black) asking if you want sex
There were surprisingly lots of ladies walking along the streets and not getting harassed, only the guys were getting asked about sex all the time so i guess it's still pretty safe for girls to go there gai gai. Rest assured people won't think you're a prostitute as the "entertainers" are all inside the bars.
The weird ass robot restaurant. Go ahead, youtube it and be wtf-ed
Suddenly a huge ass legit cinema in the middle of the red light district
Anyway we were super out of place as we weren't looking for sex or hostesses, just a chillax place to sit down and drink, so we decided to leave this area and head over to Omoide Yokocho / Memory Lane or sometimes known as piss alley
It doesn't literally mean people piss over this street though, it's a small network of alleyways filled with tiny eateries called izakaya mostly serving yakitori (grilled skewers). You can see many businessmen huddling together, eating, drinking and kpkb instead of their usual reserved selves.
Sj's excited face because he knows he's going to consume alcohol, and Jl doing her best Ck impression
Choosing a place for 8 of us was difficult because the bars were REALLY packed
And i mean packed like sardines. But it's also a great place to meet strangers if you are alone as they will start talking to you because everyone is so close to each other.
Finally found a place which can accomodate all of us. Watch your head!
The chef grilling all sorts of skewers
All of us squeezing into a small table
Ordered a drink called 烧酒 cham water, which tastes like the waitress never wash the cup of the previous customer then pour ice water in. Abit funny
Where there's beer, there's edamame beans
And our assorted skewers arrived. Liver and leek was gooood
Can't forget our favourite fungi
Also some weird parts like soft bone. Overall they were pretty average. Nothing to write home about. Somehow the topic changed to gang poems and their signs (don't ask me why i also dunno)
Kl showing off how to do the blood sign
10/10 he certainly practiced alot
Also, we ended up blasting gang poems at the bar, because why the hell not. Bunch of si ginnas obviously not pai kia sibei xia suay
After enough leng ah leng we headed back to the apartment while Sj continued hsi drinkign adventures
Of course we can't head back without some convenience store supper
Stir fried udon and half boiled egg
They even sell agedashi tofu, although it wasn't that great. Tiring day of being a tourist. The happening streets of Asakusa and Shinjuku were awesome though. Day 4 will probably delayed because i'm fawning over my new born niece ♥
- End of Day 3 -
