Türkiye 2022 - Day 6: Pamukkale Travertines & Ancient City of Hierapolis

Good morning from Pamukkale! Another exciting day awaits as we tour some historical sites, traverse some travertines and eat more depressing food.

Had a good night’s sleep in this lazy town until i was woken up by the fucking chickens crowing. Imagine seeing the sun rise every single day and still feeling the need to shout to everyone about it.

You’ll NEVER guess what we had for breakfast.

That’s right, yet another Turkish hotel buffet! Just kill me now man.

Because after a few thousand years of civilisation, the Turkish failed to invent something like nasi lemak or lor mee. Even their fried egg sucks.

Chanced upon an upside down house, which is apparently how everything in Australia looks like.

Can’t believe it’s taken us till Day 6 to explore a local supermarket. 对不起我们会改进的.

Today we are visiting Pamukkale, a UNESCO world heritage site that boasts both natural and historical wonders.

First up is the ancient city of Hierapolis which was built by the Romans atop the travertine terraces.

Although nature has reclaimed most of the city, there are tons of ruins and several structures which remain relatively intact.

The Roman theater was constructed in 200 AD and is almost perfectly preserved. That’s amazing considering the Filmgarde at century square toh-ed within 5 years of opening.

Whao nice bodoh.

This is the view of poor peasants in ancient Rome, equivalent to us buying $148 Cat 6 tickets for a Coldplay concert.

It was a mistake to begin our tour with the theater as the remaining ruins were much less impressive.

A road built by Romans which definitely leads to Rome.

We started to see some shallow travertine pools which NEA would probably classify as mosquito breeding grounds.

It was the perfect place to pit stop and have our supermarket bought lunch.

Top 5 meals in Turkiye no joke.

好风景,好食物,好朋友.

A trio of lazy dogs, coincidentally representing the 3 of us.

We continued our adventure in a pretty field full of yellow daisies.

The remnants of a necropolis aka cemetery stretching 2km long! Imagine having to carry kim zua that far to 扫墓 on 清明节.

Gates to the ancient city, and also Jl’s iphone wallpaper.

This is where the Romans peed and shat in the old days. Reagan would have had to squat here and awkwardly watch other people do their business for 30mins if he was born back then. 人很好只是大便久了一点.

Another famous attraction here is Cleopatra’s pool where you can soak in the thermal spring waters. Built as a gift to the last Egyptian pharaoh, the pool is filled with Roman columns that fell in as a result of earthquakes.

An archaeological museum resides at the entrance of Hierapolis, housing many statues and artifacts excavated from the ruins.

How can you defeat ISIS when they have a fucking priestess amongst their ranks?

After seeing so many old statues, i can conclude that 古代的人都没有鼻子.

You see you see really all look like Voldemort one.

Still not enough coins to buy one ice milo at hawker centres nowadays.

We then finally arrived at the highlight of the day: the cotton castle of Pamukkale!

These terrace pools are made of travertine, a sedimentary rock deposited by mineral water from the hot springs and the calcite gives it a cloud-like white colour.

Thus resulting in a snowy looking landscape with crystal blue pools. Just magical.

几漂亮一下.

Most of the travertines are off limits to visitors, but there was an area where we were allowed to walk barefooted in the warm thermal pools.

However, the calcite was pretty sharp and you could easily cut your feet if you're not careful.

My fat fingers somehow made it seem like my censored dick was hanging out but i can assure you nobody's eyes were violated that day.

Many people were enjoying the thermal waters which are said to be good for your skin, but so is my semen so if you want to experience the JS travertines just lmk.

It's amazing that these ice glacier looking things were created naturally without a single speck of snow.

Pamukkale is definitely worth a visit to experience this unique landscape that doesn’t resemble planet Earth.

Dinner is something other than kebabs and shitty soup? You son of a bitch i’m in.

Presenting the undisputed best meal of our trip: a beef gyudon with soft scrambled eggs. Granted, they may have mixed up Taiwan and Japan but who cares? This was so delicious i felt my tastebuds cry.

Ended the wonderful meal with a celebratory magnum. 原来吃饭是那么开心的事.

We happened by a senior citizen corner and observed some uncles playing rummikub, the angmoh version of mahjong.

It had been a long day of exploring so we decided to call an early night and return to the hotel.

Mmm a cough syrup like grape drink to end the day.

Heard my neighbours fooling around at the balcony next door. Thank god they were both clothed.

Chilling the night away in this small town while watching the city lights in the distance. A relaxing way to end our stay in Pamukkale. Come to think of it, it's the only time i've properly used a hotel's balcony. Just 1 final little thing to do here before we leave, so set your alarms for 4am and we’ll see you early tomorrow morning.

- End of Day 6 -
